Late in 1996, a group of physicians began discussing the changing health care environment in the Harrisburg area. We felt the changes presented a real threat to private practice...to our practice.
On March 1, 1998, the concept of a physician owned and governed model became a reality with the creation of Heritage Medical Group. Heritage allows physicians to maintain their independent status while benefiting from the strength of a large physician-owned practice.
We chose the format of a multi-specialty group because of its proven success in meeting the needs of physicians and their patients.
Who We Are
The physicians of Heritage represent some of the finest and most respected independent practitioners in the Harrisburg area. Our member practices represent both primary care providers and specialists, and encompass a geographically diverse area.
Heritage Medical Group is a multi-specialty physician group created in March of 1998 through the merger of ten independent physician practices comprised of over forty physicians in the area.
Today, Heritage Medical Group has 17 different offices and over 70 providers. Currently, we are located in Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties and we continue to grow.

Heritage was formed to allow physicians to maintain their independent status in the midst of a rapidly-changing health care environment. In short, we are seeking to do together that which we could not do separately.
